This week WIDA testing starts for EAP students and will continue over the next month. A letter went home to parents before the holiday. Students will have a WIDA test each for Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. It is very important all students have a good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast and keep calm and positive.
In class students will continue practicing their reading skills and put into practice all the grammar they have been learning by writing fluent and correct paragraphs, with a special focus on verb agreements (again), as well as commas, colons, and semicolons.
Students will look through the lens of Fairness as they read and prepare for their second Social Issues Book Club.
The Social Studies focus of the relationships unit will be to explore the economic and the global impact of consumer choices- our relationship with the rest of the world, and think about sustainability. There are a lot of new words to learn for ESL students!
We will begin the unit by viewing and discussing a video called “The Story of Stuff” as an introduction to the unit and the Materials Economy. It will be helpful to preview and review this video to make sure you understand the vocabulary. On youtube, you can find this video with subtitles in your language, including Japanese and Bahasa Indonesia.
Students will finalize their electrifying investigation on electrical circuits.
