G6 ESL 4-8 April, 2016

What is happening in G6 ESL?

Welcome back to school and the final quarter of your grade 6 year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday with family and friends and you are ready for the bustling and busy term ahead.

The next two weeks will be spent completing projects you started before the holiday- Future Forecast in Eng & SS, and the Electrical Circuit Investigation in Science. Following that will be an interdisciplinary project for the Relationships Unit. This will include work from Math, Science English and SS. There will be more info about that later. For now, enjoy being back at school and the week ahead.

Students will continue their reading comprehension assessment, continue practicing reading skills and put into practice all the grammar skills they have been learning by writing fluent and correct paragraphs, with a special focus on verb agreements.

Students will use the EmPOWER method to write an introduction and conclusion for their product advertisement.

Students are still expected to continue reading and completing their summary surveys for the Genre Wheel. This will continue to the end of May. The second part of the GW Challenge will begin with an individual conference on a book. The teachers modeled what this conference would look and sound like before the break.

Creating a product for the Future Forecast project will begin after evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of your plan. Remember Presentations for the project are scheduled for 20th April.

Students will finalize their electrifying investigation on electrical circuits.
